Camden Chamber Orchestra has been a mainstay of musical life in north London for over 25 years. Consisting of about 50 players, under its Musical Director Levon Parikian and Associate Conductor Guy Hopkins, CCO seeks to combine the familiar staples of the classical and romantic repertoire with the less familiar and more challenging. Recent concert programmes have included Mahler's Fourth Symphony, and music by composers ranging from Mozart to Stravinsky. We have also performed a number of operas, including Così Fan Tutte and Il Trovatore. Our conductors and soloists are top-rank professional musicians. Among instrumentalists with whom we have played are Joanna MacGregor, Douglas Cummings and Malcolm Messiter.

While the orchestra prides itself on its friendly, inclusive environment – socialising at the pub after rehearsals is a weekly event! -  we take our music-making seriously. Players are asked to commit themselves to rehearsal attendance throughout the term and undertake private practice. Most players are Grade VII-VIII standard, but there is some flexibility on this. We do not hold auditions, but  prospective members are invited to join the orchestra on a trial basis before their place is confirmed.

We perform three main concerts a year – two in north London, usually at Emmanuel Church, West Hampstead and one in central London in venues such as the lovely 17th century settings of St Paul's Church, Covent Garden and St James' Church, Piccadilly. We also undertake occasional additional concerts, such as our performances with Islington Choral Society. We usually have vacancies for good, enthusiastic players, so please drop us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.
